About Artist: Wendy Allen
Artist and Designer of Dish Art & Tile

Wendy outside house in Cave Creek AZ
Wendy Brown: age 5,  1953

Born in Arizona
my interests in art began with the arts of the American Indians; their pottery and hand formed Adobe Architecture. Later I became interested in the Modern Arts.

In the early 70s
I moved to S.D. California and studied ceramics. I created a line of Sgraffito ware, including jewelry, with an Indian and African inspired motif.

In the 80's I began Painting on 50's
furniture as well as creating furniture of my own design. That led to hand sculpted cement furniture.

Opening a gallery
I recreated the entire space from floor to ceiling with cement. I made hand formed cement curtains framing a mirror; reflected is a door well as a jewelry cabinet with a  Tibetan Style cornice also made in cement.

I began the designs
for my  majolica ware in the early 90's. One of the first two plates was The Beetle Plate.
